As a community, we at Winston Way Academy are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We expect that all staff, volunteers and visitors will share this commitment and demonstrate it in every aspect of their daily work.
We have a number of policies and procedures in place that enable us to fulfil our commitment to keeping children safe. This includes our Safeguarding Policy which is included in this section as well as the Policies section of the website.
We work closely with other agencies when needed to make sure that we look after the welfare of all children. This may mean that we need to share important information so that they can help children and families.
We support the Government's Prevent Agenda to counter radicalism and extremism and work to ensure that our children and families are aware of this responsibility.
Our Designated Safeguarding Lead is David Pasola and our Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads are Paul Dean and Marcia Tenn.
All of our staff receive appropriate training in Safeguarding and Child Protection as well as regular updates throughout the school year to make sure that they develop their understanding of the signs and indicators of abuse or neglect. They are aware of their statutory duty as outlined in “Keeping Children Safe in Education 2018”.
All parents and carers need to be aware that as a school we have a responsibility for Safeguarding and Child Protection and we welcome working with our parents to meet this responsibility.
