April 2021 – Scooter club

From informal conversations with parents at the school gate, it was evident that some parents had concerns about

  • the safety of riding scooters to school (children riding too far)
  • children not knowing how to ride a scooter properly

Therefore, we have introduced a scooter training after school club to help tackle this issue and build children’s confidence and awareness. We have started with EYFS and hope to roll it out to other year groups once restrictions are lifted. The scooter club consists of obstacle practice, road safety, learning to brake and glide and many more.

How it helps

  • Supports the PE National Curriculum
  • Establishes positive travel behaviours
  • Develops balance and coordination
  • Improves health through physical activity
